The Centre for Student Involvement (CSI) supports a variety of student programs and student-led initiatives through access to meeting rooms, equipment and resources. As the space and the use of it is constantly evolving so too will the resources available. If you think the CSI needs to be stocked with something in particular, please let the Front Desk Staff know.
Equipment + Space Booking
The Centre for Student Involvement (CSI) is a hub designed to support student-led initiatives and to foster a campus culture of involvement. The Center is a lively and social space where students are encouraged to make connections with each other, collaborate on projects and form lasting networks. The Center strives to operate within a “nothing about us without us” framework, seeking to involve students in all relevant discussions.
The Centre is home to the Student Leadership Conference (SLC), UBC Orientations, the Conference for Learning and Academic Student Success (CLASS), Healthy Minds, Terry Project, UBC Peer Programs, Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC), and Student Directed Seminars (SDS). The services, space and resources offered by the CSI exist, first and foremost, for the benefit of students at UBC. As such, requests pertaining to member groups and programs and initiatives that operate out of the CSI will be given highest priority (in the following order:)
- Member groups (SLC, Orientations, Healthy Minds, CLASS, Terry Project, Peer Programs)
- Ad-hoc student initiatives, external student clubs and organizations on a case-by-case basis
- Student Development and Career Services staff
- Vice-President, Students Office
- Campus Colleagues colleagues
One of the privileges granted to Member Groups is first priority to book the space. In practicality this means they can book the space recurrently for the entire academic year. On the other hand, non-member groups may book recurrently up till the end of the current academic semester only. The purpose of non-member booking requests will be reviewed on a case by case basis, though approval is generally given if the booking “provides benefits and learning experiences for students.”
Booking requests should be made through the CSI Assistant:
- In person at the CSI Welcome Desk during hours of operation (weekdays 10:00am-6:00pm)
- Telephone: 604.822.9805
- Email: get.involved@ubc.ca
Booking requests should include the user’s name, telephone number, affiliated program, time request and room requested. Due to the high volume of requests, please submit bookings at least 48-hours in advance. The CSI Assistant will process your request and inform you of the availability of the space and, if applicable, confirm your booking.
